Who Am I?

I live in matching sweatsuits more than I’d like to admit, and I own an absurd number of plants. I’m the kind of person who gets so invested in your business that, halfway through working together, I start referring to it as “we” like I founded it with you. (It happens. Every time.)

I didn’t start this business because I had some lifelong dream of becoming a social media manager. Honestly, I used to hate social media.

 

It felt like a constant parade of “look how great my life is” which made me wanna rewind to 2005 and go analog.

 

But, when I saw how much these FREE platforms could help business owners get attention from people all over the world and turn this attention into actual $$$ in their business, I changed my mind… fast.

 

And that didn’t come from simply posting content, it came from creating a content strategy directly tied to their business goals. Good content was the missing puzzle piece that turned Instagram from “waste of time” to “my business is thriving because of social media.”

But this was not my career plan...

I got into this industry in 2020 (yes, that 2020) after graduating from my BCom undergrad degree riiiight in time for the world to shut down. (yay me) 

 

As you can imagine, the market for fresh marketing grads looking for their first “big girl job” was… not thriving.

So instead of landing some ✨shiny✨ corporate role...

I ended up joining a mental health startup and was handed the very official,
very
flashy title of:

Social Media Manager

23 year old me was thrilled.

 

That’s where I learned the difference between running a personal Instagram, and running a business page.

 

Later that year, I (extremely naively) went out on my own and built SB Marketing Company.

Because I couldn’t help but notice the same pattern

(over & over)

In real life I met business owners who were witty, smart AF and ridiculously good at what they did. Their clients loved them. Their offers worked.

 

But when I looked at their Instagram, their expertise and results were MIA. So instead of Instagram being a solid tool for growing their business, it was doing a whole lotta nothing when it came to bringing new clients to the door.

*cue me becoming so obsessed with this gap that I made it my entire career*

But this is where business owners wanna throw in the towel… 

You’re pouring hours of your precious entrepreneurial time and every last ounce of your creative juices into your content, but… the results: zilch.  

 

Your effort isn’t the problem.  


Your lack of skills are. (And I say that with so much love. 🫶)

 

You were never taught about positioning, messaging, sales, or marketing. That’s outside your wheelhouse (unless you’re a marketing nerd like me).

So what happens?

Well, you post the content, get burnt out, vent to your partner about how you “hate social media” month after month and get stuck in this super not fun game of tug of war between:
 

“I know I need to be online.”

 

 “Buuuut- I also kind of despise running this part of my business.”

And if you’re reading this thinking,
“omg yesss- this is exactly how I feel”

then I gotchu.

Because at the end of the day...

You're a business owner, not a full-time content creator.

And the only reason you're on Instagram in the first place is to grow your business.

 

Which means you won't find viral hook formulas, "grow to 100k followers" hacks, or recipes for becoming #Instafamous on my corner of the internet. 

I’m a firm believer that if your content isn't helping your business grow, then respectfully... What's the point?

Now onto the fun stuff:

  • My favourite part of my day is my morning coffee + snugs with my pup
     

  • I love true crime in any format but will faint if I see someone bleeding in front of me (I know… confusing)
     

  • If you catch me outside my house, I’ll probably be at a funky bar dancing to house music
     

  • I’ve got grandma hobby tendencies (I love me a good puzzle, book or any kind of craft)
     

  • I have a lot of tattoos but am actually a huge softy who cries over Tik Tok’s on the reg
    (dog videos & old people get me every time)
     

  • I’m a Cancer/ Leo cusp baby so half of my personality is a big suck and the other half is a spicy, opinionated gal (it’s a balancing act)
